ROMANIA

Leisure flying in Romania

Romania – Still wild and free.
Experience an unforgettable paragliding adventure in one of Eastern Europe’s most fascinating flying regions. Nestled between Retezat National Park and the Apuseni Mountains lie some of the country’s most renowned and popular paragliding sites. Far from mass tourism, a spectacular landscape of pristine nature and unparalleled hospitality awaits you. The unique geographical location at the foot of the Retezat Mountains offers consistent updrafts and excellent cross-country flying opportunities. With launch sites at around 1,100 meters above sea level and a vertical drop of up to 700 meters, there is plenty of time for a relaxed transition into the first thermal. Novices can practice on the gentle hills, while XC pros use the towering peaks of the Retezat Mountains as their playground.

The countless landing zones in the wide valleys offer the perfect setting for carefree cross-country flying adventures. Even in strong winds, you can enjoy soaring flights along small ridges right up until sunset.
The region offers optimal thermal conditions in early summer. While the high peaks of the Retezat Massif are still snow-capped, down in the valley you can enjoy the start of summer—spending long evenings beneath the many cherry trees. Discover the wild beauty of the Romanian mountains from a bird's-eye view. Morning briefings cover the day's weather conditions before heading up the mountain, where pilots can circle in the thermals after takeoff. As always, the joy of flying takes center stage. We round off the evening with cold drinks, socializing with the locals and enjoying their hearty culinary specialties.
